conmae 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2010 Possibly, if it is degrading to their company of course.
weird monkey 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2010 No, that's why we have the 1st Amendment. As long as it isn't otherwise illegal, people can say whatever they want. As far as saying bad things about one's employers: On the flip side of people saying negative things about their work and getting fired for it, do companies also promote people who say great things about their company? No? Well then.
Pawie 6 Report post Posted November 11, 2010 I would say in most cases yes. Social media is for personal use. I have seen major HIPAA violations on Facebook and that person definitely should have been fired.
SingsInFrench 262 Report post Posted November 11, 2010 No, bosses shouldn't be trolling their employees on facebook. They should judge their employees on the work they do. That said, people should be aware that their boss may see their posts on facebook, and act accordingly.
DCAHNM 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2010 I don't think they should be fired necessarily, reprimanded or something, depends on how bad what has been said... but I think people should use common sense and think about what they're saying before they post it for all the world to see. agirl 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2010 First of all you are an idiot if you post anything that you don't care that the world sees. Lotta, that's unbelievable that someone would do that. That person should lose their nurses license, if they have one, too.
wild1forever 152 Report post Posted November 11, 2010 I voted yes, but it really depends on the situation. It's hard to give an absolute yes or no answer. First of all you are an idiot if you post anything that you don't care that the world sees.I agree. It astonishes me to see what some people post about themselves. surfnburn 5 Report post Posted November 12, 2010 It depends. I'd say yes to HIPPA violations! Lotta, you know people who post private medical info on facebook? Holy cow! If there is a legal issue, I suppose there might be a cause. I don't think a company should pry into a person's personal life.
Beamish 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2010 Not unless it violates privacy (like the HIPPA posts), but don't be idiotic enough to post something that casts your employer in a bad light and then act surprised if they have an issue with that. I do all my idiotic posting about my employers on a private blog that doesn't have my name (or theirs) anywhere on it.
