Echosoftom 3 Report post Posted November 9, 2010 They gave all their winnings away? If so, no I don't think so. I'm sure I would be very generous with family, friends and charities but I wouldn't give it all away.
Liberty 191 Report post Posted November 9, 2010 I would keep some for myself and enough to get me by for a long time and money to buy guitars and travel and stuff like that, then the rest would go to charities. Like Tazzy Fund! and the ASPCA!!!!!
Square One 0 Report post Posted November 9, 2010 I saw this story on the news and from what I remember, it's an elderly couple and the woman is just finishing her last rounds of chemotherapy for cancer. They kept 2% of the winnings that they then shared with their family and gave the rest away to charity. A really touching story. I think I would keep it and share with my family and friends and then choose the different charities that I would want to donate to. And travel. WildflowerNJ 136 Report post Posted November 10, 2010 I think this is the story: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/canada/8110544/Canadian-couple-give-away-7-million-lottery-win.html And they did not give all away...they did first give to family and friends, as it says in this story. I can see doing this in their situation.....again, bless them...
Pawie 6 Report post Posted November 10, 2010 It's a lot of money. I would keep enough to secure myself and my kids, the rest would be donated.
weird monkey 0 Report post Posted November 10, 2010 After taxes there would be about half left. At my age, that would be just enough for me to live on comfortably for the rest of my life, which would be a lot longer because I could afford medical care if I needed it. Sure I would give some to charity over time, but I would more likely donate whatever is left after I'm gone.
Amber 70 Report post Posted November 10, 2010 Would put the majority up for the future, spend a little now, and give maybe 20% to charity. Would maybe start my own charity or give to one I could become involved with since I wouldn't have to work anymore.
The Wild One, Forever 2 Report post Posted November 10, 2010 I would keep enough for me to comfortably live off, then help my family out, brothers college, niece and nephews college, etc, and give away a good portion to charities that I hold close to me.
