WildflowerNJ 136 Report post Posted October 27, 2010 I really do not think anything you learn in college is useless....it is all what you can do with it.
Magnolia 171 Report post Posted October 27, 2010 I think as far as getting a job with it, Latin is probably useless unless you're studying to be a doctor. But i agree with Beth that there's no such thing as wasted education.
wild1forever 152 Report post Posted October 27, 2010 I agree that there is no such thing as wasted education. Of the majors listed, though, I think gender studies is probably the least practical.
agirl 0 Report post Posted October 27, 2010 Even though I think it would be interesting, I went with gender studies.
Beamish 0 Report post Posted October 27, 2010 Latin- doctors don't seem to remember much of it, anyway.

Echosoftom 3 Report post Posted October 27, 2010 Latin...What the hell can you do with that?
Refugee 7 Report post Posted October 27, 2010 Criminal Justice Since it seems that all the NFL, NBA and other major sports figures get this degree while they are in college, heard it's the easiest. Most break the law they just learned, so I find that degree totally useless.
kelly 0 Report post Posted October 27, 2010 I voted Gender Studies - just because I took a class in college called "women's worlds" and I couldn't stand it! I ended up failing because I stopped going. I didn't think we were learning anything - we were given reading assignments, but never talked about them in class, it was just an hour of bitchin' about this-n-that. I hated it! The Wild One, Forever 2 Report post Posted October 27, 2010 I think gender studies is the least practical of these majors.
Amber 70 Report post Posted October 27, 2010 Gender studies is not something I would want to have sit and listen to for a whole semester, lol!!! Took philosophy....had a great time! We sat around talking about "If God is omnipotent, then can he create a rock so heavy he can't lift it?" Sort of made my head hurt. The best part was studying political philosophy..reading about communism, socialism etc...very interesting and useful.
surfnburn 5 Report post Posted October 28, 2010 It's not wasted if you have a interest in it. Actually, philosophy isn't as useless as it seems. Sometimes philosophy majors are hired by R&D companies because they can think outside the box. Latin would be good if you wanted to learn the romance languages. I'm not sure about criminal justice. My brother was cop and his degrees were in administration of justice. His education helped him get his jobs. I don't know about gender studies. Sounds like an easy A..lol I suppose majors can find jobs in counseling.
