weird monkey 0 Report post Posted October 24, 2010 German. I couldn't pick a second, it was too hard to choose. Perhaps French, if only because it is a second language in many Asian and African countries, which would be handy. I used to speak Dutch, but sadly if you don't use it, you lose it. I picked German because I have family in Germany.
Magnolia 171 Report post Posted October 24, 2010 I used to speak French somewhat fluently, was an exchange student there. I'd love to be able to speak it again, and something really exotic, too, like Mandarin or something.
Amber 70 Report post Posted October 24, 2010 I spent a year studying French in college. Still can't speak it, lol! I can say that i do not speak french, and ask where the bathroom is....but that's about it. Thought since French was my paternal grandmother's native language, I would be able to do it too. Apparently it is not inherited...you have to actually be around them to pick it up.

WildflowerNJ 136 Report post Posted October 24, 2010 German. I am so sorry I did not ask my Mom to teach me more (she was born there)..I know some words and phrases but not enough. I thought hearing my Mom and Grandmother speak in German was so beautiful....I miss hearing that....
Refugee 7 Report post Posted October 24, 2010 Japanese and Spanish. I was once fluent in Japanese, because my mom spoke only her language to me when I was little, but when I started school, I lost it. :085: I catch phrases now and then and know enough to get by, same with Spanish. SingsInFrench 262 Report post Posted October 24, 2010 I said Spanish and French. I studied German in high school and college, but I don't remember much, so actually I should have said German.

Pawie 6 Report post Posted October 25, 2010 (edited) French and Italian. Spanish should be my choice as I would need it at work and knowing English and Spanish you can make it anywhere around the world more or less without problem.... but I like the sound of Italian, and I have 5 years of German and can pick it up, and one of French but that is looong forgotten Comme les fenetre son grand and La Marseillaise is what's left in my mind.:003: maybe one frase more or two.
