Refugee 7 Report post Posted July 21, 2010 Since I think most of us have a copy of MOJO by now, let's discuss the songs. Let's start today off with Good Enough - your thoughts? Good Enough Composer Mike Campbell & Tom Petty She was hell on her mama Impossible to please She wore out her daddy Got the best of me And there’s somethin’ about her That only I can see And that’s good enough You’re barefoot in the grass And you’re chewin’ sugarcane You got a little buzz on You’re kissin’ in the rain And if a day like this Don’t ever come again Well that’s good enough Good enough for me Good enough for right now Good enough for me Good enough for right now God bless this land God bless this whiskey I can’t trust love It’s far too risky If she marries into money She’s still gonna miss me And that’s good enough Gonna have to be good enough
Refugee 7 Report post Posted July 21, 2010 Like "First Flash of Freedom" this song means so much to me. I feel like I've seen this song from birth to what it is today. It's had several transitions and to have witnessed all this is really something special. I love the lyrics Tom wrote for this song. I love how he sings it, too. But...once again, this song is all about Mike Campbell and that guitar. I love how dramatic the song sounds, it just gets my attention and takes me away. Another great song that I love closing my eyes to and being taken away to a small club in LA just being in awe of the musicians that make this song so fabulous. And now to have it on cd, well...I'm a very happy girl. There is always something special about a Mike Campbell and Tom Petty song. This one is another masterpiece.
dreamgirl 7 Report post Posted July 21, 2010 ^I couldn't agree more! Perfectly stated! It's one of my favorites on the album. The first time I heard it I remember thinking that it sounded live, but that I would love to hear it performed live. I'm so glad it's in the MOJO set on the tour. Mike is incredible. MJ§LastDance 0 Report post Posted July 21, 2010 It's just KILLER. Very deep and emotional. Gives me goosebumps and tears in my eyes when I listen to it really loud, I can't almost handle it. I hope I will be able to hear and see this song, especially this song, LIVE one day. Wow, that would be...
DCAHNM 0 Report post Posted July 21, 2010 It has a sound reminicent of The Beatles' "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" and I like it. I like it a lot.
Sugar 0 Report post Posted July 21, 2010 Epic and heavy are good adjectives to describe Mike's guitar work here. Mike's favorite lyric on the album was "if she marries into money, she still gonna miss me." Tom keeps coming up with some very clever lyrics! Mojo is so full of variety. I wonder what else was left off the album that we will hear in some later releases?
