Refugee 7 Report post Posted July 20, 2010 Since I think most of us have a copy of MOJO by now, let's discuss the songs. Let's start today off with Something Good Coming - your thoughts? Something Good Coming Composer Tom Petty I’m watching the water Watching the coast Suddenly I know What I want the most And I want to tell you Still I hold back I need some time Get my life on track I know that look on your face But there’s somethin’ lucky about this place And there’s somethin’ good comin’ For you and me Somethin’ good comin’ There has to be And I’m thinking ‘bout mama And about the kids And the way we lived And the things we did How she never had a chance Never caught a break And how we pay for our big mistakes I know so well the look on your face And there’s somethin’ lucky about this place There’s somethin’ good comin’ Just over the hill Somethin’ good comin’ I know it will And I’m in for the long run Wherever it goes Ridin’ the river Wherever it goes And I’m an honest man Work’s all I know You take that away Don’t know where to go And I know that look that’s on your face There’s somethin’ lucky about this place There’s somethin’ good comin’ For you and me Somethin’ good comin’ There has to be
Refugee 7 Report post Posted July 20, 2010 I love the lyrics of this song. I love the music. Beautifully played. But...it seems like such a LONG song for some reason.
NightDriver 208 Report post Posted July 20, 2010 (edited) ^I feel the same way, and I've caught myself skipping it for that reason... The lyrics are absolutely beautiful (except for the rhyming repetition of "wherever it goes"...should have been "wherever it flows" or "wherever it rolls" imho), it's absolutely beautifully played, but somehow I always feel it doesn't fit into the overall structure of the album. A bit like "High In The Morning", I guess. Both songs have their charm, but I don't think they accompany the other songs on Mojo very well. I would have gladly had "Mystery Of Love" and their Sonny Boy Williamson cover of "Help Me" for these two - it would also have made "Good Enough" a more reasonable and appropriate closer. Marion 1,411 Report post Posted July 20, 2010 I love this song. It made me cry the first time I heard it. It applies to so many situations in my life along with my family and friends right now. It came along at the perfect time. Beautiful melody as well.

DCAHNM 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2010 Instant favorite. I love it. Sorta Wildflowers-y sounding to me. Also, a bit Colin Hay-ish too. The song just flows. So beautiful.
Magnolia 171 Report post Posted July 20, 2010 This song is GENIUS, top to bottom. Love love LOVE it. I said it before, that it hit me immediately just like "Have Love Will Travel" did. NightDriver, I fully agree that the lyric should be "wherever it flows". I always feel like Tom sang it wrong and just decided not to fix it for some reason. Yer so bad 4 Report post Posted July 20, 2010 One of my favorite of the album, it´s an extremely beautiful song, it reminds me a lot of moments of my life... And I agree with Magnolia, it hit me like Have love will travel, Tom´s such a sweet soul!
MJ§LastDance 0 Report post Posted July 21, 2010 The first time I heard it, it brought tears to my eyes, because it's just so beautiful. It has such a smooth sound, it takes you away to a wonderful place. It's kinda sad but not depressing, it's a very hopeful song. Makes me come down and relax or sing along with it. But as it was said before, for some reason it drags towards the end. I thought I would like it much more when I bought the album, but the more I listened to it, the longer it seemed to be. So I actually don't listen to it too often and if I do, I stop it in the middle. There are other songs on MOJO I like to listen to more. By the way, I'm singing this with my band so that's I guess also a reason why I don't listen to it too often when I'm on my own.
