Echosoftom 3 Report post Posted June 14, 2010 I think it can be a tool but that's about all. I don't believe it can absolutely predict violent behavior.
agirl 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2010 I think genes can predict a propensity towards violence. I love those identical twins seperated at birth studies.
Beamish 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2010 In my experience, some kids seem more wired to attack than others, but not every kid with violent parents turns out that way. In fact, some of the most violent kids I've seen come from mellow ancestory, but they're allowed to get out of control, so I have to question whether genetics are always involved. Refugee 7 Report post Posted June 14, 2010 I think in some it's the case, how else do you explain some people? But, for the most part, I think it has more to do with the environment in which one grows up in.
surfnburn 5 Report post Posted June 15, 2010 I guess this is the old nature vs nuture argument. I don't know if using genetics to predict behavior is a good idea; the expectation of a family trait could influence behavior. Yes, physiology can predispose people to certain behaviors, and it's inherited. I think enviorment influences our genetics in varying degrees. It's hard to measure.
