Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers Performed I Should Have Known It and Jefferson Jericho Blues on SNL to Promote the New Release Album Mojo and Upcoming 2010 Tour

Just before Weekend Update began, the iconic rock band jammed it up emphatically with I Should Have Known It. The guitar play was really riveting, and Tom Petty even banged on a tambourine a bit during this SNL musical guest spot. For a man about to turn 60, he still has a vibrant presence on stage. The song is a great anthem for those who have felt used in relationships. The audience responded quite favorably to the performance. Fans can currently see a music video of this song at the band's website here. And before SNL came to its season-ending conclusion, the band did another number from the upcoming new release Mojo, a fast-paced and blues-influenced tune called Jefferson Jericho Blues, that can inspire one to get up and dance because it gives off such rapturous vibes. That tune got a rousing applause from the SNL audience.

They say that wine improves with age, and this certainly applies to Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers. The band still knows how to jam, but there's a smoothness in their sound that cuts through the senses. The lead singer even made a brief cameo appearance in an SNL skit during the early part fo the program, where a cocaine addict sings about his habit, with the musician telling the white-powder face to basically buzz off.

Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers will be undertaking a multi-city tour, kicking off in Denver, Colorado June 1 at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. For more information on the cities the band will be at and the Mojo album, go to the Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers website here
