Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins is set to release the sophomore album from his side project, Taylor Hawkins & The Coattail Riders, and will lead the group on spring tour in support of the set.

So far, Hawkins and company--Chris Chaney (bass), Gannin Arnold (guitar), Nate Wood (guitar) and Foo Fighters touring percussionist Drew Hester--are booked to play five April shows in the West, four May shows on the East Coast, and a one-off May date in Canada. Details are shown at right, and additional dates are expected.

The day after the tour's April 19 kick-off in San Diego, Hawkins & The Coattail Riders' new album, "Red Light Fever," will hit store shelves. In addition to the upcoming round of roadwork, the group plans to promote the set with an April 21 appearance on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live."

"Red Light Fever" follows Hawkins & The Coattail Riders' self-titled 2006 debut. Hawkins, who handled all of the drums and vocals on the forthcoming set, explained in a press release that he didn't over-think things during the recording process.

"About halfway through, I just said, 'F--- it, I don’t care if the record ends up sounding like me having sex with my record collection; I'm just going to have fun with it,'" Hawkins said in a press release.

The group recorded the new set at Foo Fighters' own 606 studio complex. Guests on the collection include Elliot Easton of The Cars, Brian May and Roger Taylor of Queen, and Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl.

"Way Down," the first single from "Red Light Fever," is streaming at Hawkins & The Coattail Riders' MySpace page.
