1. At what age did you discover Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers?

High School, maybe 14 or 15?

2. First TP&TH 45/album/cd did you buy?

Don't remember now. Either the first or 2nd album.

3. I know it's hard, but what song is your favorite?

Ummm, oh, mmmm, coming to the surface right now is: Casa Dega. and Straight Into Darkness.

4. This might be hard for some, but which song do you not favor?

I'm tired of Don't Come Around Here No More and It's Good To Be King.

5. How many TP&TH concerts would you say you have been to (not counting this upcoming tour)?

Just two.

6. What is it about this band that just keeps you coming back for more?

Well, initially, it was a crush on the musicians! I've sure grown to appreciate the talent they all have. Mysterious lyrics that leave room for interpretation. I didn't listen to the band for many years, and then "rediscovered" them a few years ago. It was like being able to put on your favorite pair of jeans, like falling in love all over again. And I've got to say, finding the Farm has added something special to the "rediscovery," too.

1. At what age did you discover Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers? Oh geez - I was probably 16 or 17 when I heard Breakdown on the radio, but I wasn't really a "fan" until I was in college a year or so later and heard the album.

2. First TP&TH 45/album/cd did you buy? I honestly don't remember. It was probably Damn the Torpedoes, because I was dating a guy who had the older ones, but eventually I owned all of them.

3. I know it's hard, but what song is your favorite? Surrender (live version)

4. This might be hard for some, but which song do you not favor? Woman In Love - never liked the album version, although I love it live!

5. How many TP&TH concerts would you say you have been to (not counting this upcoming tour)? I can't count that high.

6. What is it about this band that just keeps you coming back for more? The music, of course. It sounds as great now as it did the first time I heard it, and it truly has been a large part of the soundtrack of my life!

1. At what age did you discover Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers?

16 or 17

2. First TP&TH 45/album/cd did you buy?

Damn the Torpeoes

3. I know it's hard, but what song is your favorite?

Walls. Is that weird?

4. This might be hard for some, but which song do you not favor?

I used to dislike "It's Good to be King" until I heard it on Live Anthology, I haven't picked a replacement yet.

5. How many TP&TH concerts would you say you have been to (not counting this upcoming tour)?

Two.

6. What is it about this band that just keeps you coming back for more?

So many reasons..., besides an incredible body of music that juat keeps coming, here's a few:

Every member has a extraordinary talent show will never disappoint. Not only does the band not rely on scandal or other "look at me" antics to stay in the public eye after all these years, they are all decent, likeable people. Tom is incredibly charismatic, when I hear his voice and/or see him, I get that schoolgirl crush feeling all over again.

1. At what age did you discover Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers? Around 12 yrs old (Full Moon Fever) I actually got obsessed with the video for Free Fallin'. Any one remember videos?

2. First TP&TH 45/album/cd did you buy? I didn't buy very many for myself at first. My dad had the cassettes Southern Accents, Full Moon Fever, Into the Great Wide Open, and I just used to swipe them. Maybe the first CD I bought for myself was Wildflowers.

3. I know it's hard, but what song is your favorite? I go through different moods with favorite songs. But if I had to just pick one... I would say Learning to Fly, but then I would change my mind to Free Fallin', but then I would go back to Learning to Fly, etc. etc. etc.

4. This might be hard for some, but which song do you not favor? I don't A Woman in Love very much. I have an aversion to synthesizers.

5. How many TP&TH concerts would you say you have been to (not counting this upcoming tour)? 21.

6. What is it about this band that just keeps you coming back for more? Quality. Shows are just chock full of good stuff, and they are a summer staple.

Sunday Sixpack - 03/14/10

1. At what age did you discover Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers? Wow, I was probably 17 or 18 when they were on midnight special and American Girl was playing on the radio.

2. First TP&TH 45/album/cd did you buy? Wildflowers.

3. I know it's hard, but what song is your favorite? Don't have just one...too many to choose from. Love Breakdown, Walls, Refugee, Crawling Back to You etc.

4. This might be hard for some, but which song do you not favor? Criminal Mind

5. How many TP&TH concerts would you say you have been to (not counting this upcoming tour)? None

6. What is it about this band that just keeps you coming back for more? With the Wildflower album I began to develop a real appreciation for the body of work produced by this band. They are still creating new stuff and have evolved with each passing year producing outstanding quality music. Most of the bands that have been around as long as TPATH are just playing their greatest hits over and over. These guys are still edgy, still at the top of their game, and still great. Each band member is talented enough to stand alone. You do not find bands like them anymore, and I doubt we ever will again. I will be seeing two live concerts this tour and hope they continue to tour for many years to come, so I can see many more.
