The first time I watched Dogma, which is one of my all time favorite movies, I was horrified by the language and was happy to watch an edited version of it later. Now the language doesn't offend me - maybe because my kids are older? I don't know.

5. What are your thoughts on the use of curses and swear words in today's society? I think it's kind of a shame that we're all growing so used to hearing it. Kids don't think twice about swearing in front of adults these days - I NEVER would have cursed in front of my parents as a kid. I do think swearing has lost its effectiveness!

Normally I use the mildest form I can think of, because most situations don't call for strong language. When it does, and I do, people generally take notice.

Depends on how obvious it is - like I saw an edited version of Scarface and it was like - why bother? the whole "charm" of that movie is the language... For something that might be really funny for the kids excapt for a few well-places swears, sure, I don't mind them changing fu**ing to freakin'

Music - not so sure, in most cases I think the artist thinks long and hard to get the perfect words, to change them? not cool.

I had this conversation last night at a SB party, my kids are no angels and certainly know the words, but my 13-yr-old will still judge his felow students on their use of "inappropriate" language. You know their parents know they talk that way - how does that come so casually? IMHO swearing should be an occasional exclamation, not used in casual language.
