Refugee 7 Report post Posted January 14, 2010 (edited) Our hearts go out to the millions of people in desperate need right now in Haiti. The following are easy ways to donate much needed money to the relief effort. American Red Cross Doctors Without Borders UNICEF - http://www.unicefusa.org/?gclid=CPjOu6HZpJ8CFQZfagod0jpAxQ You can also simply text 20222 and type in HAITI to have $10 charged to your cell phone bill. This is done through the Clinton Foundation. Thank you, Magic Castle Hotel. Edited January 14, 2010 by Refugee
Echosoftom 3 Report post Posted January 14, 2010 That is a great idea and very easy to do. This earthquake is a huge devastation for such a small island. The number of deaths and casualties is already astounding. I have a very good friend who lives there and I've been texting him and his sister since this happened and I'm not getting a response. I pray that he and his family are okay. :085: May god have mercy on the people of Haiti and that ignorant idiot asshole Pat Robertson!!!

Echosoftom 3 Report post Posted January 15, 2010 Thanks you guys. It's so nerve-racking. I've recently learned that so many people lost hold of their cell phones in all the confusion and that the cell phone towers are not all working either. Hopefully I'll hear something soon. I guess he doesn't know about plate tectonics,.... the force that moves the continents....lol How does his religion explain how we got seven of them and why they're still moving? He probably thinks the earth is the center of the universe...lol I don't why he gets media attention. I hope your friend is okay, Sharon. What happened there is just horrifying. The same thing happens in China because they don't have the money for high quality, earthquake resistant structures. Everything crumbles.

Echosoftom 3 Report post Posted January 15, 2010 I finally got a text from his brother's wife in New York a couple of hours ago. It's a case of good news, bad news. Jean and his sister are okay. But there are some other family members that maybe didn't make it and it's hard to verify anything with the cell phone service still being down and no internet available. Very sad. conmae 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2010 (((Sharon))) Hope you continue to receive good news. There was a pic in our local paper today of a couple standing in sea of dead bodies, literally made me sick. My cousins son is in the Navy and went on the USS Carl Vinson to help-very proud.
