WildflowerNJ 136 Report post Posted December 9, 2009 Got to go up to NYC yesterday...a beautiful and crisp day (today so much rain and wind!) Wanted to share these photos of my time at the Mosaic at Strawberry Fields...got there a little late, we first walked up to Columbus Circle to their Holiday Market (pics to come in Depot Street) When we first got there....we stood on a bench to try and see. People singing and swaying to John's music. Gary was back arranging the flowers and things people bring. I usually bring flowers, buying them in Penn Station, but we were to do some shopping first so I did not want to hold them then. I brought a green apple and wrote "Remembering John...Peace, Beth" and drew some flowers and peace signs. A man took some photos of my apple....don't know if he was with a paper or what. Gave my apple to Gary and he made his way into the crowd to the Mosiac to put it there. You can just see my green apple here..by the pink flower... People brought photos of John...candles... Here is Gary, arranging some flowers. We got to talk a bit.. Some photos and artwork that was for sale before you got to the Mosaic.. The Dakota. This time there were two policeman in front of the entrance....and I did not see Yoko's two white candles in her window. Me, walking away from the Dakota....that is the last time I wear my Uggs when I know I will be doing alot of walking... Some video (I think I hear me singing, sorry) w9hmElX-hTo My other video is still being processed...will be back to post that, too...

WildflowerNJ 136 Report post Posted December 9, 2009 Thanks, Tara...yes, it is just so hard to believe it has been that long... Here is another video. I took this when we first got there. I was standing on one of the benches....I was singing along, too.... cZdGEZ7_8Vc Now my sister said she saw Howard Stern there...standing in the crowd by the CBS cameraman. I did not see him, though...
weird monkey 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2009 Thanks Beth, it's so touching to see that. It hardly seems like it's been 29 years, yet it is so wonderful that so many people still memorialize John's passing.
dogontherun 33 Report post Posted December 9, 2009 Beth! That is SO COOL to see everyone sitting around in the circle with "Imagine" in the middle. It looked like a huge crowd in the 2nd video - wow! It is so wonderful that John's legacy lives on! Thanks for going and sharing your photos with us. The green apple was a great idea, too!
angelic_22 0 Report post Posted December 9, 2009 Wow that is a very beautiful thing to see. Makes my heart sing to see the people gathered in love to celebrate John's life and music. We make the trek to the fields every time we go to NYC to pay our respects. It is really a very special place, full of peace.
