Fall back: Change alarm batteries when changing clocks

Recommended Posts

Daylight Savings Time ends Saturday night with clocks "falling" back one hour.

Eighty-three percent of all civilian fire related deaths are a result of home fires, and on average, home fires kill 540 children ages 14 and under each year, the fire chief reported.

An early warning can provide critical extra seconds to escape, said Fire Chief Bill Culbertson. Smoke alarms double your family’s chances of getting out of a home fire alive – but only if they work.

When you turn your clocks back on Nov. 1, make a lifesaving change in your household – change the batteries in your smoke alarms. This simple habit takes a moment, but is the best defense your family has against the devastating effects of a home fire.
