Today I Learned...

Recommended Posts

^ Oh, Patty, that is so sad. Poor doggie. That breaks my heart. Let me tell you what...I'd like to get my hands on people like that. I'd go nuts!!!

Keep us posted on how he is doing. :(

Oh, I KNOWWWW!!! I would freak out!!!

This poor guy.. he's retired... only works a couple days at our place, but he is a very valued employee. He's extremely knowledgeable and a hard worker and EVERYONE loves this guy. He's always telling jokes, he's always upbeat... very friendly, always smiling. I had heard that after this happened, he had come in to quit. Management wouldn't let him. They told him to take a leave, for as long as he likes, and see how it goes. Ugh, I feel so bad for him though. It's just all so horrible... a true nightmare.

I remember one time, about a year and a half ago or so, the house alarm here had gone off (signals were being crossed, nothing was wrong thank goodness). They had police here, fire trucks, the whole nine yards. We were all at work. Well I raced home, I am the closest... I am only 8 minutes away... but the dogs were so terrified. I remember I called work and said I wasn't coming back for the rest of the day... I only had maybe 2 left anyhow. I just didn't want to leave the dogs. I came in and they about crawled inside me. They were just on me like "Save us! Save us!" And nothing bad was happening to them. Just strangers in the house, which is bad enough for them, without us home. I can't even fathom people being cruel to the animals... why??? Take what ya want and leave. Leave the poor pets alone! :085:

Okay, I had learned this before but am only now growing some in my garden. I learned what you think are "geraniums" at the local plant nursery...are really what is called pelargoniums. The true geranium is a low growing spreading plant that will bloom all summer, too. It's common name is cranebill and is a perennial...

^ I have some cranesbill! One of them is that exact kind. We call them perennial geraniums. It has mounded up and is probably 3 feet in diameter now. All from one little plant about 4 years ago. It blooms from about June through mid-August (if it doesn't get too hot). It's gorgeous! We have another one that is light pink with some darker pink striping in the petals but it hasn't flourished like that one. :)

Congrats to your daughter from me too, Ref! :023:

I learned that the company that may purchase my employer is "named after the mythical three-headed dog that guards the gates of hell." I'm not sure whether that's good news or bad news for us, lol.

I also learned that Dan Quayle works for them.:eek::eek:

Tony, I worked on an IT project once that was named Cerberus (assuming that's the name you are speaking of). We made the manager rename it, lol.
