1. What is your first name? How do you feel about it? - Carol. It's ok, but not what I would have chosen.

3. Can a person's name sway your opinion of them? Why or why not? - Maybe right in the beginning if they remind you of someone in the past.

4. How do you feel about the current trend toward androgynous first names? - Having worked in the nursery for years I've heard them all and they're not my favorites.

5. Are there any names that speak powerfully to you, whether by association or imagination? - Yes, there are some names that I don't care for, because they may remind me of someone I didn't like. I tend to like the classical names.

1. What is your first name? How do you feel about it? Emily. I like a lot. It was unique back when I was in school (I was the only Emily in school until my senior year in high school). I know that name has grown in popularity.

I would think if you were given a name that may seem unflattering, or hard to pronounce, it would maybe affect your self-esteem. A hard to pronounce name could make it hard to get a job. (A potential employer wouldn't want to offend the person by mis-pronouncing the name)

It's okay, I guess. Maybe (for a girl), the given name can be feminine and the nickname can be androgynous if it suits the girls personality. I knew this girl, Kristen, but Kris definitely suited her personality more.

No, not unless it's something really peculiar. I read an interview once with Peaches Geldof and she said she hated her name so much that it caused her to rebel later in life. Wonder how Apple is feeling.....

3. Can a person's name sway your opinion of them? Why or why not? - Yes. Sorry, I do not mean to offend anyone with this, but if someone I haven't met yet was named Bambi, Buffy, etc... Well...sorry, but I am not going to think too highly of you. That's why it's nice to meet someone in person and then get my own perception of that person.

My friend from high school did that with his five daughters, Alicia (Al), Jessica (Jess), Samantha (Sam), Kristen (Kris) and Melissa (Mel). My two girls are Lauren (feminine version of Loren) and Lindsay (Lindsey Buckingham for example). I must say, all the girls listed above have strong personalities and can take care of themselves.

5. Are there any names that speak powerfully to you, whether by association or imagination? - I cannot stand the name Geraldine or Gerry. It's my bitch in law's name and right off I can't stand it. I love the name, Morgan. It reminds me of my father, whom I adored. I also love the name Kay(e). My mom's nickname, because most people did not know how to pronounce her given name.

1. What is your first name? How do you feel about it? Elizabeth. I like it fine. I like Lauren better, both my parents claim they wanted to name me that and the other did not like it, lol. Also, in kindergarten I wanted to be named Holly because I thought it was so pretty. There was already a Holly in my class, so I told everyone in my family I wanted to change my name to Hollyberry, and for a while I wouldn't answer to anything else.
