Your family definitely has some problems, but probably nothing that can't be overcome.

You don't have the greatest past with your family, and bad feelings may arise when everyone's together.

It may take some individual or group therapy to work everything out. And that means your family has to admit there's a problem.

If your family isn't ready to change, you may need to give them some distance for a while.

You probably communicate well, and even if you disagree, you don't let it ruin relationships.

Consider yourself lucky for having such a great family. Believe it or not, it's pretty rare!

It may be hard to appreciate what you have at times, but it could be a whole lot worse.

1. Name one thing you like/liked about your mother, and one thing you dislike/disliked - I loved my mom's cooking. I loved how she took care of me. She was my medicine when I was sick, which was a lot. I miss being with her. I also love how she loved music so much. If it wasn't for her, I have no idea where I would be.

What I disliked - my mom was ruthless when it came to my education/homework, and what she expected from me as her daughter. She expected SO much from me. Her expectations were too high for me to live up to. Also, sometimes her bigotry, lol. You would have to understand the Asian mind.

2. Name one thing you like/liked about your father, and one thing you dislike/disliked - I love how my dad made me feel so special and so loved. How he tried so hard to keep the lines of communication open for us as a family. I loved his very strong work ethics and his "rules" to live by. Especially in regards to friends and family.

What I disliked - was how stubborn my dad could be! And, you couldn't talk to my dad in the mornings till he had at least 2 cups of coffee, haha.

4. Name a trait you inherited from your mother, and one trait you inherited from your father - My emotions and worrying came from my mother. We both could cry at the drop of a hat.

My stubborness, quick temper and my morning demeanor from my father. Also, his impatience.

One thing I did inherit from both, was my strong love for animals.

1. Name one thing you like/liked about your mother, and one thing you dislike/disliked - The think I like is the think I dislike. My mother is an incredible superwoman who can accomplish anything she sets her mind to. Your family is 90% dysfunctional.

Your family is more than a little nuts. And you definitely should think about moving on.

This doesn't mean you need to completely cut your family out of your life...

But it does mean you need to create a healthy support system of your own. One that doesn't involve your family.

Even if you've already made a clean break from your past, it still may be haunting you. Checking in with a therapist from time to time is probably a good idea.
