ROGER MCGUINN

Roger McGuinn continues to impress fellow musicians and audiences with his mastery of the 12-string guitar. His Grammy nominated Treasures from the Folk Den includes duets with Pete Seeger, Joan Baez, and Judy Collins.

To commemorate the ten-year anniversary of the Folk Den project, McGuinn released a four-CD box set of 100 of the folk songs that he uploaded to the Folk Den during the past decade.

Originally a co-founder of The Byrds with Gene Clark and David Crosby, he has had groundbreaking hits with Mr. Tambourine Man and Turn, Turn, Turn. Come hear why this folk-rock legend endures as one of the world’s most influential guitarists.

JOHN SEBASTIAN

John Sebastian founded The Lovin’ Spoonful, which played a major role in the mid-60s rock revolution with hits such as Summer in the City and Do You Believe in Magic? His celebrated history includes performances at Woodstock and its British equivalent, Isle of Wight. Most remember the theme song Welcome Back from the Welcome Back Kotter show.

Whether the stage is Carnegie Hall or the Pollak Theatre, John continues to spread his gospel of American roots music. He is the subject of the PBS special Do You Believe In Magic: The Music of John Sebastian, and in 2007 released Satisfied, an album of duets with David Grisman.

He has also lent his music in support of social, environmental, and animal rights causes. This Rock and Roll Hall of Famer remains one of the best ambassadors of American Music.

On Friday, May 1 at 12:30 p.m. in Wilson Auditorium, Roger McGuinn will hold a Music Industry seminar, which will include the history of the Byrds’ musical revolution and contemporary technical information. He will demonstrate musical techniques and highlight the computer techniques he uses in recording.
