LizzieB 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2009 I plan to keep doing what I'm doing until I retire. Then when I've got my future all set, I'd like to start a little business to do something I truly love.

Maybe be a little shy but there's nothing wrong with that. You're great with people!

Nel 71 Report post Posted March 23, 2009 The recession took care of that for me. The book store, where I worked, closed in January of this year. This is my second job loss since 2003.
wild1forever 152 Report post Posted March 23, 2009 ^ Oh no Nel, I'm SO sorry to hear that. :085: I certainly intend to keep my current career, but it remains to be seen if it will be outsourced out of existence. I am hoping, though, that even if I cannot do technical writing, I can switch to another type of writing.
Pettyjunkie 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2009 I'm a student, and I plan on sticking with it for the next 10 years. lol
Echosoftom 3 Report post Posted March 23, 2009 Definitely, yes. Nursing for the most part is one of those recession proof careers. I'm very fortunate to have chosen this as my profession. Now, I might change the type of nursing I'm doing but I will certainly retire doing some form of nursing.
Square One 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2009 I don't know. I started in the music business when I was 18 and truly never thought I'd still be here 23 years later, so my inclination would be to say yes....but the entire industry is still on the brink of utter failure, so who knows what will happen by the time I retire. I hope something changes sooner than later. I envy people like Echosoftom ^ who went into nursing. If I could rewind time, I'd go into medicine. kelly 0 Report post Posted March 23, 2009 I answered yes only because I don't think I'll ever retire. Need to work until age 71 in order to get full Social Secuity benefits. I started working full time at age 18, and I have 40 more years to go!

jawallac 48 Report post Posted March 23, 2009 No, I'll definitely change. I seem to change to a different industry every 5-6 years, so I'll be "due" for a change in 2010 or 11...
