Refugee 7 Report post Posted March 7, 2009 Have you ever seen a snake outside the zoo (i.e. in the wild)? How did you react?
weird monkey 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2009 Does cooling off in our fountain last August count as 'in the wild'? I guess my reaction is to take pictures. We boxed him up and released him waaaaay out back:
agirl 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2009 ^ love the pictures! I love snakes and lizards. I'd do the same and take pictures and let them go on their way.
I`ll-be-on-the-left-side 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2009 I`ve seen some. Not that big ,though. Reacted in the same way - grabbed my Canon and started a photo session

brandonwood20 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2009 I fear no snake. I grew up around rattlesnakes and all kinds. When I was like 4 I tried to pick one up thinking it was a rope! It did scare me when the rope started moving away!!!
LizzieB 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2009 Yes, I've seen them and I'm not afraid (well, if I saw a rattlesnake, I doubt I could box it take it out back!). We took pictures of a python we saw on a guided hike in Costa Rica (sorry, those pictures are not accessible from here). I told my husband later I think the guide calls his buddy to bring his pet python up for him to "find" on the hike, lol.
Starfish 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2009 We have small snakes in the yard all the time - no big deal. Not sure how I'd react if I saw something poisonous!
SingsInFrench 262 Report post Posted March 7, 2009 Whoa, those are some pictures. We don't have snakes like that where I live. I did once see a garter snake when hiking as a kid. I did watch it awhile.
wild1forever 152 Report post Posted March 7, 2009 We get snakes in our yard every once in a while. The kids always get a big kick out of them.
Beamish 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2009 I liked my neighbor's boa and my cousins used to drop garden snakes down my shirt (and were always dissapointed when I didn't freak out) but finding a rattler would definately give me pause.
DCAHNM 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2009 I hate snakes... I freak out when I see them on the road while I'm driving..
Marzirose 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2009 I saw a little garter snake at camp, which one of the adults picked up and let everyone hold, and I almost stepped on some big black snake on they way back from a hike.
Pawie 6 Report post Posted March 7, 2009 I knew I had rattlers around the ranch I used to live at but never saw any. My son did. But when I took a step over a wild one (not a rattler) I worried about my dog, so I went for the broom. The battle ended a tie. He firts yielded and took off, but a few minute later he snook right back into the greenhouse where he eventually disappeared.

weird monkey 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2009 Marcia, is yours a Rattlesnake or King Snake? It's beautiful. I love that little guy! Awwww. I also love that Snake that plays bass. It was a rattler, a Mojave (Green) in fact. Probably the most dangerous snake in North America. We used to kill the Mojaves if they showed up in the yard because they are so poisonous, but a few years ago people started poaching snakes of all types out here to sell in the city as pets, and the populations plummeted. Meanwhile the rodent populations skyrocketed. Since this one was lethargic from soaking in the cool water, he wasn't aggressive, so we managed to coax him into a box and relocate him. They are beautiful animals.
