Refugee 7 Report post Posted March 6, 2009 1. How do you feel about going to the dentist? - I hate the dentist! Next to my fear of flying, this is my other fear. I get really freaked out when I have to go. 2. Describe your worst dental experience: - I was 23 years old and just had my first child. I had lost most of my fillings due to the pregnancy. I had the most insensitive dentist work on me, when I tried to tell him the Novacaine was wearing off and I could feel the pain, he called me a liar and tried to continue working on me, I flipped out and out of his chair and office. Next day, I found another dentist who had to work on me and also calm me down, poor man. I've never gotten over that experience and to this day, just hate dentists. 3. Describe your best dental experience: - Dr. Manchester here in my town. He took courses and teaches other dentists to work with us that fear them. He's extremely gentle and gives me pills to help me calm down and gives me gas to make my experience more pleasant. I'm still a handful though, lol. 4. Do you floss on a regular basis? - Oh yes, I'm a little obsessive about it. 5. If need be, would you consider wearing braces as an adult? - Yes. Pawie 6 Report post Posted March 6, 2009 1. How do you feel about going to the dentist? I don't have a problem with it. As an adult I always had good ones. With one exception and he never saw me again. 2. Describe your worst dental experience: As a kid I went and the lady dentist was totally insensitive. She used one of those old fashioned drills you use a pedal to run and it hurt so bad. She went on and on and I a total fear for years. It passed when I met the first adult dentist I had to see. 3. Describe your best dental experience: My last Swedish dentist and my current here are gems. They know the job in all ways possible. 4. Do you floss on a regular basis? I oughta do it more often. 5. If need be, would you consider wearing braces as an adult? Yes.
weird monkey 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2009 1. How do you feel about going to the dentist? I'm terrified of dentists (see #2) 2. Describe your worst dental experience: Long story short, I had a lot of dental problems as a child, but the dentist never scared me until I was 12. I had an eyetooth so impacted, it grew in sideways and required surgery to remove. The surgeon didn't put me to sleep (ie, no general anethesia) and I remember hearing and feeling the sensation of having the roof of my mouth broken, the tooth exctracted, having no recovery time, and being terribly sick as I got in the car to go home. I was in bed for 3 days with the right side of my face swollen like a grapefruit, and when they finally made me go to school, even one of the teachers made fun of how I looked. 3. Describe your best dental experience: I had a great dentist for a couple years who took the time to get to know his patients a little, and would remember from visit to visit little details. He and his assistant were very gentle, and I never hesitated to go to him. Then he took a year off to do charity work and I went to his partner. I never saw the guy, and by the time his hygienist was done with a routine cleaning, my mouth felt like it had had a root canal, and she badgered me the whole time about flossing, quitting smoking (I did quit about 12 years ago, but no thanks to that b*tch). The 'good' dentist decided not to return to the practice after his year was up, but pursue cosmetic dentistry instead. My fear of dentistry returned with a vengance after that. 4. Do you floss on a regular basis? Daily. And anytime I feel I have something caught in my teeth. I hate that feeling. 5. If need be, would you consider wearing braces as an adult? If need be, but it's unlikely. I had them as a kid (after the surgery trauma, but I didn't fear the orthodonist, although I involuntarily bit him once when he startled me). When I see adults with braces, I think, 'good for them!', because it must make them feel very self conscious, but the results are worth it.

Pettyjunkie 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2009 1. How do you feel about going to the dentist?-I don't mind it. 2. Describe your worst dental experience:-I had to get some cavities filled and they didn't give me any numbing. They were okay because they weren't deep at all, until the last one. When they got to the last one, it was deeper than they originally thought and he hit something with his drill and I want to take that drill and and drill in his face. It hurt SO bad! 3. Describe your best dental experience:-I've only been to the dentist a few times so I can't say I've had a "best". 4. Do you floss on a regular basis?-Nope, but I should. 5. If need be, would you consider wearing braces as an adult?-If I absolutely had to.

Dynabeat Tim 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2009 1. How do you like going to the dentist ? It beats divorce court , but not by much. 2. worst experience ? When I was a young man, I had a reaction to the gas they give you to numb your cheek, it caused a reaction, not unlike Viagra does to some men, the dental assistant, came in the room, and she said "oh my gosh" "we better cut the dosage on the next one" ( it didn't help that she was cute ) I was embarrassed, but at the same time, I didn't feel any pain. Go figure. 3. In retrospect, it could be ....see above. 4. do you floss on a regular basis ? somewhat 5. braces ? possibly, although, I think I will just wait for implanted teeth. I knew a woman, once , who had huge bucked teeth, a real sweet heart, but her teeth held her back in jobs , etc. Years later when a dentist suggested braces for my daughters, I did not hesitate, as I never wanted them to experience the hurt that my friend did. Describe your worst dental experience: I used to go to a dentist who did a few fillings with shots in the gum only, no nitrous oxide. That was a bitch! 3. I had a good 'ol time. lol No pain during or after, the worst pain was the infection in the tooth before he fixed it. Yeeks! 4. Do you floss on a regular basis? Try to. 5.
