weird monkey 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2009 I like the Counting Crows, but the only album I have is "This Desert Life" (it's 'this' not 'the'. Imo, there isn't a bad song on it, and there's a great song on it with a few lines about a local hangout up here called Pappy & Harriet's (Pioneertown Palace). "When the last king of Hollywood shatters his glass on the floor and orders another Well, I wonder what he did that for That's when I know that I have to get out cause I have been there before So I gave up my seat at the bar and I head for the door We drove out to the desert just to lie down beneath this bowl of stars We stand up in the palace like it's the last of the great Pioneertown bars We shout out these songs against the clang of electric guitars You can see a million miles tonight But you can't get very far Oh, you can see a million miles tonight But you can't get very far" It pretty much sums up this desert life in about 5 lines Not why I bought the album, but it was a cool surprise the first time I heard those lyrics. Square One 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2009 ^ Ref, I would love to see them play again because the one time that I have, Adam D. was so plastered, he was literally almost falling off the stage and I was bummed because I was interested to see how they were live. I do like them, but don't have any of their albums. I've worked with Matt Malley a little bit over the last couple of years and he is just the sweetest guy. Refugee 7 Report post Posted March 4, 2009 ^ I saw them a few years ago at the Greek in LA when they opened for The Who. They were fantastic! I did like them before that show. Sorry that Adam D. was so messed up. I got one of those once with Diamond Dave when I went to see Van Halen in the early 80s. Only concert I ever walked out on. He was so coked up, it wasn't even funny.
Square One 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2009 ^ lol ... somehow that doesn't surprise me! 80's + Van Halen (or any other band for that matter) = coke... I bet that was a good show... I love the Greek.
Echosoftom 3 Report post Posted March 5, 2009 I always liked their first album August and Everything After, but I didn't follow them too much after that.
