Bruce Springsteen took to the stage with Billy Joel on Thursday to rouse support for presidential hopeful Barack Obama.

Just two weeks before the impending American elections in November, the legendary rockers joined forces to raise funds for Obama's campaign to get to the White House.

The pair alternated between their tracks and even thrilled music fans with an impromptu chorus of Beatles' classic "A Hard Day's Night."

But the duo got their biggest applause after playing "Hail to the Chief," the official song of the American President, in honor of Obama's presidential ambitions.

Springsteen later devoted his classic hit Born to Run to the Democratic candidate, telling revellers: "This is for the senator."

The pair were joined by a host of stars, including India Arie, John Legend and Springsteen's singer/songwriter wife, Patti Scialfa.

Springsteen is a staunch Obama advocate - he fulfilled a free, three-day tour in support of the politician earlier this month.
