Refugee 7 Report post Posted September 25, 2008 We received a phone call from a senior gentlemen named Garry. Garry will be 80 years old in four days. He called asking us to help rehome his beloved 6 year old Lab mix. When asked why he could no longer keep him he became very emotional. This poor man loves his dog and Dakota is his constant companion which is very important for him as a senior living alone. He can no longer walk the dog due to his age and Dakota¢s size. Garry and Dakota also live in an apartment. Tazzy Fund¢s Save the Seniors is a program that saves senior animals in need of rescue, but also supports independent living seniors with pets. I cannot imagine having to give up my pet and best friend. With just $300 a month we can take care of Dakota and his elderly owner and more important keep them together. Due to the overwhelming medical needs in the rescue community we have responded to this year funds are low and we must look to you our supporters to help this man keep his best friend. We need 30 monthly sponsors for just $10.00 a month. That will cover the cost to have someone go out each day and visit the home and make sure the dog gets out for both potty breaks and exercise each and every day. His loving human will provide food and affection. Please consider a monthly sponsorship of just $10.00 to keep Garry and Dakota together. emmie 2 Report post Posted September 25, 2008 Yeah it's a real shame. Poor old geezers - both of them. These sorts of things make me cry and unfortunately, it's just not possible for me financially to keep donating to causes. I wish I could but.. If I ever won alot of money I'd definitely hand over a bundle to these animal shelters, we have our own here in Canada though as well. It's just sad. I don't even like to read about them anymore, it just upsets me
Echosoftom 3 Report post Posted September 26, 2008 This is so sad. Poor old guy. I think that's do-able. I'll even go $20 a month. I can't stand the thought of someone losing their dog when I could have done so little to help out. Emmie, I know what you mean though, it seems that we're being exhausted by the charities this year. It's so hard and it is upsetting because you know you have to draw the line somewhere.
