Refugee 7 Report post Posted August 30, 2008 Neil Young has added a few dates to his upcoming fall tour, and has apparently has settled on dates for his annual Bridge School Benefit show in Northern California. Young, who kicks off the run Oct. 14 in St. Paul, MN, will use the weekend of Oct. 25-26 for the annual acoustic benefit concert, according to the San Jose Mercury News. The concert, now in its 22nd year, aids children with severe physical impairments and complex communication needs at the school Young and his wife, Pegi, helped found. Lineup and ticketing information has not yet been announced. The tour also includes a performance at Farm Aid, which takes place Sept. 20 in Mansfield, MA, outside of Boston, and includes regulars Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp and Dave Matthews, among other performers. Details are included below. Young's touring lineup features the same band that backed him on his recent overseas trek: Ben Keith, Rick Rosas, Chad Cromwell, Anthony Crawford and Pegi Young. Death Cab for Cutie and Everest will provide support from the tour's launch date to the Nov. 5 show in Omaha, NE; Wilco and Everest will open the remainder of the schedule, except for the Dec. 9 date in Chicago, which will not feature Wilco. Young continues to support last year's "Chrome Dreams II." Clocking in at more than an hour, the set includes among its 10 tracks two epics: one 18 minutes long and another 13 minutes. Young and his "The Volume Dealers" partner Niko Bolas produced. The original "Chrome Dreams" album was scheduled for release in 1977, but was shelved. "Unfortunately, all original documentation and art for this album was lost in a fire that destroyed Neil's Malibu home in early 1978," according to Young's website. Young announced earlier this year that he was hooking up with Sun Microsystems to produce a series of career music/video hybrid anthologies on Blu-ray Discs. The first set, which will cover Young's career from 1963-1972, reportedly will be available later this year. Earlier in the year, Young appeared at San Francisco's JavaOne conference to show off a multimedia project utilizing Java and Blu-ray discs that he ultimately will release on a series of career overview music/video hybrid discs. "I only give the record company what I want people to hear at the time. So I have a lot of unreleased material.
