Refugee 7 Report post Posted July 1, 2008 The Foo Fighters have added a few dates to the next US leg of their current world tour, and have tapped British pop-rockers Supergrass to open many of the shows. The Dave Grohl-led outfit has added several new July shows to its calendar since last check, as well as a Sept. 28 slot at Austin, TX's Austin City Limits Festival. Supergrass will open on most of the dates, with additional support from Minus the Bear and Year Long Disaster at selected shows. Consult the Foo Fighters' website for more information on specific dates. The group's complete current schedule is detailed below. The Foo Fighters scored five Grammy nods in December for their sixth studio effort, "Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace," which surfaced in September, and went on to claim wins at February's 50th annual awards ceremony for Best Rock Album and Best Hard Rock Performance for the album's first single, "The Pretender." The song spent a record 18 weeks at the top of Billboard's Alternative/Modern Rock chart, with the second single, "Long Road to Ruin," also reaching the top of the modern rock pile. "Echoes" follows the Foo Fighters' 2005 platinum-selling double-album, "In Your Honor," which spawned the No. 1 mainstream- and modern-rock hit "Best of You" and led to the band's biggest-selling tour to date, according to a press release. The new set reunites the band with Gil Norton (Pixies, Counting Crows), who also handled production work on the group's highly regarded 1997 debut as a full band (rather than a Dave Grohl solo project), "The Colour and the Shape." Earlier this month, Led Zeppelin members Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones joined the band on stage during its show at London's Wembley Stadium. The two Zep stalwarts performed a pair of their classics--"Rock and Roll" and "Ramble On"--with Grohl and drummer Taylor Hawkins. The concert was the Foo Fighters' second show of a two-night run at the London stadium. The two sold-out concerts (6/6,7) were the biggest headlining gigs the band has ever played, according to a press release.
