Refugee 7 Report post Posted June 19, 2008 The Alarm has a new album on deck and is heading out on the "Rockin' the Colonies" US tour with fellow veteran British rockers The Fixx and The English Beat. The outing is set to launch July 10 in Washington, DC, and make its way across the country, with an Aug. 1 finale scheduled in San Francisco. Details are listed below. The Alarm is gearing up for the July 8 release of "Guerilla Tactics," which is said to be the band's most personal album to date, as it deals with singer Mike Peters' ongoing battle with leukemia. The set will include a bonus DVD with videos for every song on the album. "Guerilla Tactics" is the third studio album recorded by The Alarm's modern lineup, following 2006's "Under Attack." That album was released just after Peters was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. Despite the diagnosis and a heavy schedule of chemotherapy, the singer soldiered on with his frontman duties, playing every show booked in the UK and two US tours, according to a press release. While in New York to perform at the Joey Ramone Lymphoma Research Benefit Concert, Peters received news that he was in remission. Since then, he has formed the Love Hope Strength Foundation cancer charity and led a team of musicians to 18,500 feet on Mt. Everest to break the record for the world's highest concert on land. "Everest Rocks" was captured on film and is expected to debut on MTVHD this summer. The Fixx and The English Beat are supporting best-of albums, and The Fixx expects to release a new studio set this year, according to the band's MySpace page.
