Update: Veteran rockers The Rolling Stones have denied reports they are poised to sign a deal with concert promoter Live Nation.

The "Satisfaction" hitmakers' record contract with EMI expired in February, and reports surfaced on Sunday claiming the band was on the verge of signing a multi-million dollar deal with the live music promoters.

According to British newspaper The Observer, the Stones were considering transferring all rights to their back-catalog and future touring rights to the entertainment giant.

But the group insists talk of a Live Nation deal is false.

In a statement, they say: "We are not in talks with Live Nation in connection with any record deal."

Executives at Live Nation, a spin-off of Clear Channel Communications, recently secured lucrative contracts with Madonna, Jay-Z, and U2.
