Refugee 7 Report post Posted June 15, 2008 Our local PBS station is really out of Los Angeles, KCET. Not sure about your local station, as I know they schedule different shows, but have you checked them out lately? In just the last few nights, I've watched Queen Rocks Montreal. Great concert! I miss Freddie Mercury. Such a great voice. This was filmed a few years after I saw them on the We Are The Champions tour. I also saw Jimi Hendrix at the Monterey Pop Festival. They just concentrated on his performance there, not the whole concert. Great footage and great music. I know this man's music is a acquired taste, but they showed Zappa on Zappa last night. Very good! Dweezil Zappa performs some of his dad's best tunes with a very tight band. Guitarist Steve Vai and drummer Terry Bozio also sat in on a few tunes. I never knew how good of a guitarist Dweezil was till I saw this program, wow! I loved this show, I mean how many times do you see a band have a xylophone player? Check out your local PBS! Echosoftom 3 Report post Posted June 15, 2008 OMG! I'm glad you posted this Ref. I saw Queen Rocks Montreal. That was incredible! Then last night I watched a tribute to Patsy Cline that I enjoyed thoroughly AND Bob Dylan Live Newport 63-65. Tonight Zappa on Zappa will air. I'll be watching that right after The Bee Gees Tribute concert. Lots of good stuff. They must have changed the Program Manager or something because we've had some great music shows on our PBS station lately.

Starfish 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2008 I mean how many times do you see a band have a xylophone player? Hey, my daughter plays xylophone in a swing band, lol. We've been catching a lot of good music programs on the HD music station, too, including a lot of the PBS Soundstage series and a great Ringo Starr interview/performance. I'll keep my eye out for Zappa, that sounds interesting.
kira 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2008 Yes, KLRU in Austin has some great music programming. Anything from Dylan to Hank Williams and points in between. Of course, Austin City Limits plays every week so there is always someone new there. We primarily watch PBS at home. Tonight is my fave - Antique Road Show!! I love that show. Amazing how much a butt-ulgy vase is worth.
