Question of the Day - 05/19/08

Recommended Posts

Yes, I was baptized Catholic. I disagree with the church on many things and haven't attended in years. I suppose if I was going to go to church though it would be Catholic.

Yes, I was baptized Lutheran, so was my wife. It really helps if you are from the same denomination, at least in my view. My ex always had reasons for not baptizing, ( she was to busy, her family wouldn't come , etc.) so I had it done after we divorced, but by then the little was over 2 1/2 and the older one was 3 1/2. Maybe cause she knew the one wasn't mine and I didn't know, and she was afraid of God, I don't know, I just thought of that as I'm typing, anyway for years we celebrated their baptism with a icecream social, just the 3 of us. Both of my sons were baptized Lutheran, at a very early age. My wife and children attend every week, I make it on special days, I'm usually to tired to get up after working all week...but we pray nightly and I do believe. Sometimes, though it is very hard to keep the faith when life is throwing ya such curves !! And I don't think that I'm the first person to ask God why ? So often I've prayed for some kind of answer to why my life has taken the events that it has.

Never been baptized, and my family's not really religious. We used to attend a Lutheran church when I was younger, but my parents never agreed with organized religion and the whole "if you don't go to church, you're going to hell" mentality my community has. They thought (and still think) that a person can still worship God and lead a good life without going to church. I tend to think the same way. It's not how many sermons you sat through that make you a good person - it's how you live your life.

Baptized Catholic, First Communion, Confirmation and all - but I don't practice it at all. If I were to go back to an organized religion, it would likely be anything except Catholic.

Christianed as an infant, never confirmed within the church.

Don't go to chruch..........Sometimes I think about going as it would make parents happy but don't believe you need to be in church to live a meaningful life.

Nope. As I was growing up, went to many different churches with my friends. Catholic Church (Catechism), Church of the Latter Day Saints (Mormom and Primary), Southern Baptist Church, Peace Lutheran, etc...

Learned enough to come to this opinion...organized religion scares me and I try very hard to stay away.

I was baptized in the United Methodist Church. I am no longer affiliated with that, nor any other religion, and would't return to organized religion. I do my best to live a good life and keep my personal peace with the great whatever's out there.

I was baptized, confirmed, etc in the Catholic church. I still do consider myself a Catholic even though I only attend church for special occasions. I do, however, strongly oppose the idea of the church as an institution - I strongly disagree with most of their beliefs/decisions. It sounds cliche, but I'm more spiritual than religious.

Never baptized. We attended Church of Christ when I was a child. I do not attend church now, but if I were to start attending, it would definitely not be at Church of Christ. I attended several different churches with friends while growing up - Catholic, Baptist, Methodist, Episcopalian. Today I prefer a non-denominational church. Preferably high on a hill top where I can feel the sun and the wind and hear the birds sing. I do not like or trust organized religion.

I was baptized Baptist when I was a little girl. We attended church until I was about 5. I'm not very religious, I'm more spiritual. I believe that if you lead a good life you will be taken care of. I don't think that you have to go to church.

Went through a religious phase in college and was baptised as a Christian. Don't consider myself even remotely spiritual anymore, although I do love a good Samhain/Beltane ritual when I can find one.
