KansasPettyFan 1 Report post Posted May 27, 2008 Wow, Linda! That's freakish but very cool. The owls are still here. They squawk back and forth at night and yesterday we saw them hanging out back in the nest. Haven't seen the mother though, but she is very skittish and hides well. I hope they stick around! KansasPettyFan 1 Report post Posted May 27, 2008 Beth, here is my Cranesbill (perennial geranium). It was planted about 4 years ago and was a tiny little plant. It has also spawned several volunteers. It loves the afternoon sun. I am redoing this planting area. Taking out cypress mulch...ugg...removing landscape fabric and putting down some cotton burr compost. This is Columbine. We got the dark purple Barlow one last year. Love it! This is two kinds of Clematis growing on a ginger jar. We don't know why but every year after they bloom, they die back to the ground and come back later in the summer. Some kind of wilt disease I guess. Fingers crossed for this year. This has a few annuals in it but that trailer with the blue flowers is something I have not seen before. It is called Anagallis, Wildcat Blue. They look purple but they are actually the prettiest shade of cobalt blue. I haven't seen anything like them. They've grown a lot already. WildflowerNJ 136 Report post Posted May 27, 2008 Oooo I missed the clematis and that pretty annual. I love clematis...we have several varites on the back of the shed on the copper pipe trellis Fred made....ones that bloom in summer and a giant one that blooms in the Fall...very fragrant. I hope they do well this year....our neighbor, Johnny, lost 3 of his clematis already... That anagallis is new to me.....so pretty. I love blue colored flowers. That is a neat way to showcase a plant...on that lattice... Again, thank you for posting these, Teresa....this is my favorite time of year....the garden is starting to come back to it's full blooms.......:sun_smiley:

WildflowerNJ 136 Report post Posted May 31, 2008 (edited) Teresa (and for any other gardener-Farmer) Here is the garden a few weeks ago...everything seems so small....there is my Smokey bear looking on Now the tomotoes are in (in those home-made cages)...still looks small, things are growing up now.. Foxgloves by the side of the house. They are coming up everywhere. I had tried to plant them in certain spots but they will not have that...the seeds go where they will and I let them come up.... KansasPettyFan 1 Report post Posted June 2, 2008 Beth, your place is gorgeous! Come and run the weed eater around my place. LOL It needs it. It is on the absolutely never ending list of things around here to do. I love this place, but it is a lot of work. But I wouldn't have it any other way. Awww...cute squirrel. I finally saw one here today. Haven't seen any lately...probably because of the owls. Yikes. We have found two decapitated critters here lately. A guinea hen from next door and a rabbit. Lovely. Both times my dog was carrying them around.
