Refugee 7 Report post Posted April 7, 2008 Neil Diamond's second album with producer Rick Rubin will be out next month, and features a duet with the Dixie Chicks' Natalie Maines on the track "Another Day (That Time Forgot)." "Home Before Dark" is due May 6 via Columbia. The album is led by the single "Pretty Amazing Grace," a live, in-studio video for which went up today on Amazon.com. As with 2005's "12 Songs," in addition to Rubin, Diamond collaborated with Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell and keyboardist Benmont Tench on "Home After Dark." A new addition to the lineup this time is guitarist Matt Sweeney, best known for fronting indie rock outfit Chavez. The album will be available in a deluxe edition with a four-song DVD of Diamond performing tracks live in the studio. Among them is a cover of Simon & Garfunkel's "The Boxer," which is not on the album. "12 Songs" was a critical and commercial smash, debuting at No. 4 on The Billboard 200, his best opening since 1982's "The Jazz Singer." The album has sold 570,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. "I love the intimacy of it," Diamond told Billboard in 2007. "I love the simplicity of it. And I also loved having to make it work without embellishments for the most part. I got to love playing the guitar on these things. Let's not say 'love,' let's say 'accept.'" Diamond begins an international tour May 24 in Rotterdam, Holland, and is expected to hit North America later this summer.
agirl 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2008 Saw him a few years ago and he puts on a great show. Only problem is he's coming to ARCO and that place sucks.

poppiesgal 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2008 I saw Neil Diamond back in the early 80's and it's one of my fondest "live performance" memories. It was the perfect venue for a small, intimate show ... sigh ... I would LOVE to see him again. :045:
