notatall1234 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 Having to sleep on the sofa bed in the hotel, LOL! haha!! I agree, though. I'm not much of an outdoorsy, 'roughing it' type of girl. sometimes I feel like living in my apartment is roughing it enough!
Mary Jane 49 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 I grew up in a house with just one coal fire in the living room , in winter the ice used to be an inch thick on the inside of the bedroom windows .I used to wear more clothes in bed than i did in the day time ! Magnolia 171 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 ^ Wow, Christine! That really is roughing it! I'll have to go with Nancy here and say no flush toilets or showers. Not my cup of tea. I love to camp in the mountains for about two days, then I start to miss a place to plug in my hair dryer, hot iron & coffee pot. Oh, and of course a magnified makeup mirror and HBO. LOL
Doxiejoe 1 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 Not being able to sleep in a bed is roughing it to me. I'm not much of a roughing it kind of person either.

kira 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 haha! Considering when we first moved into house, we had an extention cord plugged into the pole outside for light, a porta-potty, and a cold-water shower from hose (until December) roughing it can mean many things. I think roughing it is camping in wet and cold for days without more than tent and fire for relief - that bone-chilling cold that's hard to shake. In the heat, it's being in the jungle with so many biting insects that feet and legs swell up and make it difficult to walk, despite putting 100% deet directly on skin. With hiking it's having blisteres rubbed raw to point of bleeding and still miles to go.
kira 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 one more - roughing it is having to break the ice off wetsuit before putting it back on and getting into kayak to paddle for day.
LizzieB 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 ^Yikes, I don't ever want to experience any of those things. lol. To me, roughing it is sleeping on anything less than an Aerobed and not having electricity, a nearby water tap, a Coleman stove, a real shower and a real toilet. So, I love camping, but not without these 5 things.
