Refugee 7 Report post Posted March 27, 2008 Los Lobos has extended its ongoing touring schedule with a new round of dates throughout North America. The Grammy-winning roots rockers continue their trek tomorrow (3/27) in Calgary, Alberta, and will be in Canada through early next month. Since last check, they've added a slew of shows in California, a couple in Illinois and Saskatchewan, as well as dates in Mexico City; Seattle; Hamden, CT; and Vienna, VA. The itinerary stretches into October, when Los Lobos will set sail on the the seven-day Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise, which leaves from San Diego and visits several ports in Mexico. The band's schedule intertwines with several April shows featuring The Latin Playboys (Los Lobos' David Hidalgo and Louie Perez) performing Mexican folkloric music and Los Lobos songs unplugged, and then answering audience questions in a Q&A session. That "Stories and Songs" mini-tour celebrates the duo's nearly 40 years of working together and supports "Unreleased Songs and Rare Recordings," a compilation of 20-year-old material said to have been "unearthed from the vault." Los Lobos, as a whole, continues to support its 2006 release, "The Town and The City," which marks the band's 13th studio album. The self-produced set broke into The Billboard 200 and landed on several critics' list as one of the Top 10 albums of 2006. In a recent interview with LiveDaily, Perez said Los Lobos' upcoming projects include a children's album of Disney movie songs and a DVD concert/documentary that includes the band performing the album "Kiko" in its entirety.
