nurktwin 2,143 Report post Posted April 3, 2011 been fooling with puters, mine is fine, but i noticed that my B/U puter is not getting a strong signal, but it works fine. then the WD said she can't get on the net upstairs on her puter, so i checked network connection and it's not even listed!!! 4 neighbor connections come up, but not my home network, the signal is too weak. it sounds like my router might be going bad, so i unplugged it and waited a minute and plugged it back in. sure as shit her puter automatically signed into the net at full strength and is working for now. that means i have to get a new router and the cheapest place for a Linksys E3000 is amazon.com at $140. i checked best buy and it's $160 or 170 plus tax. at the last minute before ordering from amazon with no tax and free shipping and waiting 10-14 days to get it, i checked Staples and they have it for $160, minus a $20 instant coupon with free 1 day shipping, so that brings it down to $140, i do have to pay $9.95 tax, but that's ok, for $150, i'll have it tomorrow. nurktwin 2,143 Report post Posted April 5, 2011 i got a pack of 30 Italian Genovese Heirloom tomato seeds, so i just planted 12 of them to see how they will start on my window seat. if they fail, i still have 18 seeds to try again. the basil and parsley i planted earlier is doing good and i used some on the pork roast yesterday. i also planted some lemon-lime basil and it's now about 1 inch tall. i did plant about 5 yellow flat roma bush beans to see how fast they would come out here in the house and 3 popped up so far and i put them under a Gro-Bulb and in 3 days they are already 6-8 inches tall. i may plant a couple Sweet 100 Cherry tomato seeds later today. nurktwin 2,143 Report post Posted April 5, 2011 Beth, I'm starting some tomatoes now cuz they say start indoors 6-8 weeks before transplanting outside, which will bring us to the 1st week of June. it also gives me more time to replant more seeds if these don't sprout in 7-10 days. WildflowerNJ 136 Report post Posted April 5, 2011 Nurk, I would always start my tomatoes at the end of March...but they never started taking off until May....so with the warm greenhouse and soil..I am planting mine out at the end of May...early June....we always have a bumper crop...for us, for friends and for the groundhogs in the back, I plant them the extras... Just had lunch..not off to repotting.......
nurktwin 2,143 Report post Posted April 5, 2011 (edited) i try to start indoors and keep the pots at 70-80 degrees til they sprout and then i use Gro-Bulbs to provide light and heat, adjusting the height of the bulbs as the plants grow taller. i understand you can use 4 foot or 8 foot flourescence bulbs and fixtures over the plants too, but never tried it. AndreaM 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2011 Hmmm . . . Reschedule the chiropractor appointment I completely missed on Saturday. I never forget appointments, never mind miss them altogether. Very embarrassing, and obviously stress-related. Clip all my nails Shave the REST of my body (lol) Make a deal with XM/Sirius for my car. The 3-month trial is over. Call my best friend, Sandy, if she doesn't call me. She has a doctor's appointment today, and her thyroid has been a mess. Finish a letter to my other friend, Tybie. I'm way overdue, so that alone could take hours, but I'll be up half the night, anyway.
