Duran Duran has outlined a spring US tour backing the band's latest set, "Red Carpet Massacre," featuring a theatrical touch carried over from the group's Broadway run last fall.

"We have been working on completely different arrangements for some of the older material and will be integrating a lot of our latest record into the performances," frontman Simon LeBon said in a press release announcing the tour, which kicks off April 29 in Vancouver and will hit 20 cities through the end of May.

"We need to keep things fresh--not only for ourselves, but also for our audiences, who can be assured of a lot of surprises with this new production," the singer added.

The group took over Broadway's venerable Barrymore Theatre for 10 days last November to preview material from "Red Carpet Massacre," which hit stores later that same month. Recording sessions for the album began in New York City last year with production help from Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, Nate "Danja" Hills and Jimmy Douglass. In the middle of recording, guitarist Andy Taylor split with the band and the remaining four members--LeBon, Nick Rhodes, John Taylor and Roger Taylor--decided to start over from scratch.

The resulting album is Duran Duran's first since 2004's "Astronaut," which the band released following its 25th anniversary reunion tour in 2003. It was the group's first new studio effort in more than two decades.

The video for "Falling Down," the Timberlake-produced lead single from "Red Carpet Massacre," is streaming at Duran Duran's official website.

Nothing here in Sacramento either. I like Duran Duran. I saw them years ago in L.A. at Hollywood Park. It one of those huge festival type concerts with several artist. It was wild but I was in my 20's at that time so I never gave it a second thought. There's no way I would do that today. But I remember the crowd went crazy when they came out. You know I had forgotten about that.

what i find amazing is over the past 30 or so years, a lot of bands start their tours in vancouver, bc and on to seattle. like it's a testing ground and then change the shows if they aren't working, before hitting main stream america. have you noticed that??
