Singer/songwriter KT Tunstall lines up her first full US tour this spring as she continues to back her second album, last fall's "Drastic Fantastic."

The Scottish-born performer will kick off the trip May 3 in San Diego, with 18 cities on the map for her first complete circuit of North America after making only sporadic appearances here in the past.

Irish singer/songwriter Paddy Casey will provide opening support during the trek, which will feature Tunstall performing on acoustic guitar while the rest of her backing band performs "various other unplugged acoustic instruments, such as double bass, harmonium, and mandolin," according to a press release. All dates are below.

"We wanted to try something a little different this time around and I think performing everything on acoustic instruments will afford these gigs a great vibe and give people a chance to see us play in a more intimate setting," Tunstall said in a press statement. "We'll have some different arrangements, new versions of older songs, but don't worry, it's still going to rock!"

Tunstall is touring behind "Drastic Fantastic." which hit stores last September. She again worked with producer Steve Osbourne (U2, New Order), who also handled production duties on her 2004 debut, "Eye to the Telescope."

"I really wanted to progress on the second album," Tunstall said during a November press teleconference. "I wanted to make something that I felt was the next thing; not a repeat of the first one. It's an easy trap to fall into just because you've got a successful first record. But the big difference was the fact that I'd been on the road with a band for three years, so that really found its way into the second record.

"It's got a lot more life energy, I think, than the first one might have, which is much more fitting. The first one is a much more intimate affair."
