Katie 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2008 The fans are vital, of course! Still, I had to say Manager just from a buisiness point of view. They can make or break you (and your bank!)
Echosoftom 3 Report post Posted January 7, 2008 I'd have to say the fans. They could have the best manager, publicist, booking agent ever, but if there's no loyal fan base all that doesn't really matter.
PumpkinBumpkin 1 Report post Posted January 7, 2008 ^ I agree. The fans are most important. They are the ones who buy the music and buy tickets to the shows.

Starfish 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2008 I suppose the answer depends on your definition of success, but I would go with the fans.
Magnolia 171 Report post Posted January 7, 2008 I have to say the manager. If the band is managed poorly, it will fall apart and there won't be anything left for the fans to follow.
surfnburn 5 Report post Posted January 7, 2008 I'd say fans.....

kira 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2008 Both good choices. I'll go with fans. It's hard to get a good fan base but you can always change managers.
emmie 2 Report post Posted January 7, 2008 I said fans. It doesn't matter who the publicist is, or the manager etc is, if the public (fans) aren't interested in you, then you're done for.

Century City 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2008 the fans, but one fan doesn't make big difference, one fan can't break you.. the others have more individual power

KansasPettyFan 1 Report post Posted January 7, 2008 Naturally, the fan choice is winning with 82%. LOL I would agree. Have to have a product that people like or you are sunk.
nurktwin 2,143 Report post Posted January 8, 2008 i thought about this and finally came back to my 1st choice. without fans, you really can't go anywhere. but without a manager to get you started with gigs, a record contract and getting you out there, you'll never get fans. so i went with manager to get you started and be established and get a fan base. Doxiejoe 1 Report post Posted January 8, 2008 I said manager. There's lots of great talent out there that never gets anywhere due to lack of management. There's also lots of mediocre talent out there that makes it big due to good management.
Wingspan91089 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2008 Fans.
jpharis53 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2008 I think the definition of success is important. If you mean "Get to the top and sell a bunch of records for a month," then a manager is the most important thing. However, if you want a guy like Tom Petty who, after 34 years in the business still performs sell-out shows across the nation, then you need fans. [bTW: I think most of us are choosing "fans" because we're a little biased. 8) ]
