I bought another guitar!!!!

Recommended Posts

There are 2 pickups, 1 under the bridge and the other at the base of the fingerboard. 1 is the Nanoflex and the other is the Nanomag. You can use either or blend the 2, all 3 ways sound great. Blending both really makes this guitar ring out like a Rickenbacker on steroids!! I have a mahogany Guild 12 string like Tom's that is pure acoustic and I'll get an L.R. Baggs for that.

"People" meaning people in the band or in the audience? Because the places we play in (in the rare occasions that we play at all) are easily small enough for beer leakage onto the stage...

It was a giant informal open jam and sometimes the pub sponsored softball team would arrive and get drunk and request songs and sing along and crowd around us (no stage)  and so there was the concern of spilt beer.

I appreciated their boisterous energy but learned to be smart and aware of the distance from mug to instrument. A lot of fun though!

cheers

I finally ordered the case for this J200 and it came today. It's pretty nice (Epiphone 940 EJUMBO) and I ended up buying it from American Musical Supply, they had a $20 off coupon, so I got it for $109. I'm really liking this guitar!!!!

I finally took the plunge and grabbed this 2019 Gibson Les Paul Junior.  They had 4 color options and I went with the "satin blue stain".  From what I've read, they're getting pretty solid reviews everywhere.  It will be here on Tuesday.

Tomfest, play some of those great sounding Beatle songs from the EPI Casino with P90's era on this new LP Jr. and see how it compares. I'd be interested in knowing if they sound the same or not. I would imagine the new Jr would sound different being a solid body. Let us know. I'll bet you are wishing you would have paid for 1 day delivery now. Keep us posted.

I do have a few other guitars with P-90's in them. I like how the P90 sits somewhere in the between the warm crunch of a humbucker, and the thinner brighter bite of the single coil pickups in the Telecaster or Strat. P90's can sound really fierce.  I'll compare them all, but as you said, I expect this LP Junior to sound different - think Leslie West playing  "Mississippi Queen".  That's kind of where I was going with this guitar.

My 'Inspired by John Lennon" Casino covers the Beatles tones nicely, but I'll be interested in seeing what variety of tones I can pull out of this single pickup P90 guitar.

The guitar came! It's absolutely beautiful and in perfect shape. I was going to wait til tomorrow to try it out to let it sit in room temp, but I had to try it acoustically and tune it. After that I had to plug it into the Vox Beatle amp, I couldn't wait til tomorrow. I was worried about the reviews saying the electronics are junk and 9 out of 10 guitars don't work. When I plugged in, it didn't work, so I removed the battery cover and sure as shit, there was a plastic cover over the batteries, I removed it and this guitar rang out like nothing I've ever heard before. All the controls work flawlessly from the neck P/U to the under bridge P/U separately and together. The onboard tuner works great too. I have a few acoustics, but nothing sounds like this, it's amazing! It also has 2 jacks like a Rickenbacker, 1 mono that uses both P/U's or the 2nd which allows for stereo. I just took about 12 pix and will post them here as soon as I upload them.

In the meantime I bought one, too. Not only did I read your post here but shortly afterwards I met a musician friend who also plays it. And I thought, well, that must be a sign! At least that's what I took it for...

It's an amazing guitar, considering the price. The pickup really makes a great acoustic sound!

^   Congrats, I know you'll love it. What color did you get?

Thanks! Sunburst! Looks really beautiful. I got lucky, because they only had two sunburst left (imagine: at Europe's biggest music store); and I got the b-stock for 365 Euros. So far I have not encountered any flaws. ;)
