I'm old school too. Know some about Texas muscians but the ones I know about are probably considered old school too. I just joined Curves, and frankly am so pleased I never listened to the pop crap that I now hear when I go in. It's just not right.

well-versed in rock/alternative music, yes, but I don't know anything about hip hop and that scene in today's music culture.

This pretty much describes me as well. Thanks to the teens and young adults in my life, I do know a little bit about hip hop, though.

I know a bit about alot of different kinds of music. Even some country.

My son loves classic rock, like me, but also hip-hop so I've learned to like

some of that, too. Then there are the White Stripes, Green Day, etc.,

and bands like Pearl Jam and Nirvana that aren't old or new, somewhere in

between.

Very old school. I do try to keep an open mind but the last time I watched the Grammy awards and another music awards show... it was just really bad. Imitations of imitations. I don't see or hear anything unique anymore. There's some talent out there but no substance.

Has creativity run dry? Or is it just the music business that doesn't allow it to flourish? And it bleeds into everything else. Film, Books, Art etc.

It really is becoming a total bore.

Haha, I hate today's music culture. Well most of it. I can get excited about it all the time, but it´s not worth it. I try to just not listen to it. There still are talented people out there, of course there are and always will be. And there´ll always be some great songs. But most of those songs will be forgotten after some months. They don´t have that kind of effect on people like the songs from the 60s or 70s. And that´s because there are just so many songs and musicians (I´m not sure if you can call most of them so) and many songs sound alike or you think you´ve heard them before. In short, there´s just too much, too much the same... too much trash.

The problem is I think that the music business is mostly about money and it seems like everything already had been done before. It´s for kids who identify with those perfect looking "stars". And this is exploited by those who just want to make money.

However, God bless The Last DJ. :003:
