Echosoftom 3 Report post Posted December 15, 2007 I haven't had to think about contraceptives for so many years I just don't know. Things are so different now. One of the drawbacks I see with this idea is that your healthcare insurance will no longer have to cover it. Then you'll be paying full price for it. You can just imagine who's pushing this idea. agirl 0 Report post Posted December 15, 2007 Yeah, I think Sharon's right. Insurance will do anything to get out of paying for rx's. Soon we'll be able to get everything over the counter.
Mary Jane 49 0 Report post Posted December 15, 2007 Surely medical checks should be done before a woman goes on the pill ,like what medication she is taking and what her health is like , I think it could be dangerous to just for anyone to be able to buy it
notatall1234 0 Report post Posted December 15, 2007 I don't know. I think that all forms of contraception should be affordable, accessible and available to women (and men) WITHOUT DELAY OR HASSLE by pharmacists who think they have the right to decide what meds to dispense, but I honestly don't know if there are any health implications to taking the pill without seeing a doctor first. Flower 0 Report post Posted December 15, 2007 No, I think a Dr needs to see the female. If you smoke the pill can bring on a stroke, ect.
Starfish 0 Report post Posted December 15, 2007 I think it should be available by prescription and it should be FREE! There are still insurance companies out there that won't cover it unless you get the generic. I never understood that attitude - for crying out loud, paying for the pills is a lot cheaper than covering the expenses of pregnancy and childbirth! conmae 0 Report post Posted December 15, 2007 Just think of the teenagers getting ahold of the pill and the many STD's to follow(not that it isn't happening already but I think they are more apt to use a condom if they aren't on the pill)...it needs to be monitored. Refugee 7 Report post Posted December 15, 2007 I think you should see a doctor first. The pill is nothing to mess around with. They have SO many side effects.
nurktwin 2,143 Report post Posted December 15, 2007 i don't know how to answer this. OTC would most likely cost less, especially if it was generic, but i don't see a cost savings to the consumer with the real deal, it might be more. as you've said, the insurance companies are behind most of this and it benefits them. i think everyone has the right to have something more affordable and maybe OTC. but the real problem is, can anyone go out and buy it without a dr's ok? the way drugs are shoved out today to satisfy the consumer, i don't trust any of them. so, if they become available OTC, it's your problem when you run into trouble, or even die, nobody's is accountable, except you! therefore, i say keep it available by prescription. and i agree with nancy, it should be free. Pettyjunkie 0 Report post Posted December 15, 2007 What is the pill do? Can someone tell me i don't know. Birth control pill. No. All women should be checked medically because birth conrol pills can do some nasty things to the body.
