Game show host Alex Trebek has heart attack

Recommended Posts

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Alex Trebek, the popular host of U.S. game show "Jeopardy!", has suffered a minor heart attack and been hospitalized, according to news reports on Tuesday.

Celebrity television show "Entertainment Tonight" reported on its Web site that a "Jeopardy!" official confirmed the heart attack and said the Canadian-born Trebek was "resting comfortably in a Los Angeles hospital, and plans to resume taping 'Jeopardy!' in January."

No further details were known, and a spokesman for "Jeopardy!" was not immediately available for comment. Celebrity Web site TMZ also reported the minor heart attack.

"Jeopardy!" is one of the longest running game shows on U.S. television, and regularly places No. 1 in ratings among its rivals. The show reaches nearly 39 million viewers a week and airs in over 99 percent of the United States.
