I grew up listening to the Traveling Wilburys, so I first became a fan of that band and as I grew older I started listening to the band members' other projects. Can't remember when I bought my first Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers album, but I guess it was around ten years ago. I remember the album though; the eponymous debut album. One of my all-time favorite albums is "Wildflowers". It's beautiful. The lyrics are focused. The music is sublime. Oh, and then it's got all those great musicians on it. My favorite album with the Heartbreakers would be "Echo". Perhaps not an obvious choice, but it's got everything I want on an album. That being said I guess the "favorite" label depends on what's been stuck in my head from time to time. While not on my top list, the "Into the Great Wide Open" album is one of those that always gives me an enormous sense of well-being. I'm a huge fan of Jeff Lynne so I don't mind the production style, quite opposite. Listened to it on a drive from New Orleans to Lafayette last spring. It was the perfect soundtrack as the open road unfurled and the sun went down. Other musical favorites: Queen, ELO (been a member over at the ELO Forever forum for several years), Paul Simon, ABBA (especially Benny Andersson), Led Zeppelin, Roy Orbison, George Harrison, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, The Beach Boys, Dave Edmunds, J.J. Cale, Levon Helm, Nick Lowe, Ry Cooder, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Elton John, Geraint Watkins, Leonard Cohen, Robyn Hitchcock, Warren Zevon, Kinks, Dr. John... The list goes on and on.
