Rick 156 Report post Posted May 10, 2013 April 14, 1865...the day Abe Lincoln was shot. Wait...I'm not that old.... But seriously, I will never forget anything about November 22, 1963, the day JFK was shot.
Magnolia 171 Report post Posted May 10, 2013 Yes, I also thought about the day JFK was shot. Imbedded in my memory. I didn't think about John Lennon at the time I answered the question, but you're so right Benny, that is a day I will never forget either. Time stood still. Of course I also remember seeing the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show. Sitting in front of the TV that Sunday night with my sisters, all of us picking out our favorite Beatle. Yes, that's history, too! Definitely a turning point for me. I became a hard-core music fan that night, at my young age.
bm29759 80 Report post Posted May 10, 2013 For me it's 4/20/99... The Columbine shootings, its really close to home, Columbine was my rival High School and I grew up only a few miles away. I was on my honeymoon in Mexico and turned on the TV to CNN (the only English channel) and saw the horrifying news. I'm still disturbed by it today. GoldenRose 18 Report post Posted May 10, 2013 Unfortunately, also for me it is 9/11. I cannot read or watch anything about it without feeling uncomfortable and I think I always will. On a happier note, I'll always remember seeing the Queen in real life for the first time at her jubilee last year.
Amber 70 Report post Posted May 10, 2013 9/11 because of the horror of it all and the fact that I was watching CNN (because the hospital pathologist came in and told me it was happening on TV so we went to see) when the second plane hit the tower right before my eyes. I thought it had to be a movie.....that nothing like that could happen here in the US. I guess that must have been the way my parents felt when Pearl Harbor was attacked. But JFK was a big event at our house. I was too young to really understand what was happening, but I knew it was a big deal. I watched the Beatles on TV and remember when they came to Jacksonville because my babysitter was a big fan and taught me all about them. I loved the music immediately! I wept when John Lennon was shot. I could not believe anyone would kill John! WHY?? I guess that was really the end of the innocence for me. Of course, my mother's death is a day I will always remember in 1982. I knew then I had to be grown up since I wasn't anyone's child anymore. On a less depressing note: This January I met Mike Campbell, Marcie Campbell, Darian Campbell, Chester and Holly Campbell and Leilani! I also saw "The Clubhouse" and made some new friends like Mickeyt and spent time with old friends at the Imperial Ballroom! This year I am making happy memories!
