TomFest 576 Report post Posted April 14, 2013 Probably one of the earliest Beatles hits - "I Want To Hold Your Hand", or "I Saw Her Standing There". I've heard many music artists of the mid to late 60's that cite the Beatles as the reason they started playing.
Mikeyt 136 Report post Posted April 14, 2013 I think I'd be looking to Chuck Berry and beyond.
Szafira 62 Report post Posted April 14, 2013 I check my personal 100 Greatest Songs Ever and I think this is "Hey Jude" by The Beatles.
agirl 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2013 The Beatles "I want to Hold Your Hand". The first time I heard that song music changed for me.
Rick 156 Report post Posted April 15, 2013 Not an original answer, but I'd say Jackie Brenston's "Rocket 88."
Liberty 191 Report post Posted April 15, 2013 I think I'd be looking to Chuck Berry and beyond. This is what I was thinking. Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters, Bo Diddley, Buddy Holly, Elvis... some really early rock n roll. Without them, we really wouldn't have The Stones, The Beatles, Eric Clapton, or any of those great bands. "Rock Around the Clock," maybe? Or "That's All Right, Mama." Yeah, there's Jumpin Jack Flash and Stairway to Heaven, and all of that, but I think you'd have to look back further than Zeppelin or Stones to get the most influential rock song. Patty Petty 9 Report post Posted April 15, 2013 I'm going to go with Chuck Berry's "Rock and Roll Music."
GoldenRose 18 Report post Posted April 15, 2013 I agree with 'Rock Around the Clock' and Chuck Berry. They're not particular favourites of mine but influence-wise I think they are huge. Maybe Buddy Holly too and definitely Elvis.
Magnolia 171 Report post Posted April 16, 2013 I'm going to have to go with an early Beatles song also. I think that music changed the landscape of music forever.
