Question of the day 2/2/13

Recommended Posts

Well, for my honeymoon and tenth anniversary, we vacationed on Mackinac Island in Michigan. Not exactly an exotic, tropical island, but it was fun! No motorized vehicles are allowed on the island. People walk, bike, ride horses, or take a horse and carriage. We stayed in a Victorian-era hotel that was very charming. In the mornings we would wake up to the sounds of ferry boats bringing visitors to the island. I'd love to go back, even though I'm no longer married to my travel companion. ;)

Here is our hotel: The Iroquois:

Not really an island but it was a point break in Punta de Mita, Mexico. I was there for about 4 months with my boyfriend....he surfed and wanted to get away from the Jersey Shore's cold waves. It was a beautiful place....I remember it all.....

Ray was given this 'secret' map of how to get there. At one point, he had to get out of his truck and use the machete, lol!! Everything was so green and lush....

We vacationed a few years back in Kauai, loved it, went snorkeling in calm waters. Most of the time the water was treacherous. At one beach my daughter and I both lost our glasses to a wave while standing in a few inches of water. They glasses were found fortunately. At another beach i remember my daughter saying watch out Mom as I suddenly found myself under water and unable to get back on my feet. We called that beach the beach of death, nearly impossible to stand up.

Still a beautiful place especially the Napali Coast. I would go back someday.

I've been to Oahu, Hawaii and Kauai. Without question, Kauai is my favorite. It is so beautiful there, small and intimate, and less commercial than the other islands. The food was amazing...and you can get sushi grade fish at the local supermarkets. There's even a rum distillery, made from local sugar cane.

I live on an island! - UK! And it's big enough to holiday on!

Also, Anguilla, Majorca, Malta, Martha's Vineyard, Isle of Wight (does) that count?).

^ Well Mike, I've vacationed in the UK so there's one. And wouldn't you know, I only learned

about a week ago that Isle of Wight was an island. (I'm slow sometimes, LOL)

Also been to Oahu and Kauai and a few Caribbean islands also as well as Catalina Island.

Someday I want to get to Cumberland Island with Amber!
