Quote Of The Day

Recommended Posts

"I pity the man who wants a coat so cheap that the man or woman who produces the cloth will starve in the process." - Benjamin Harrison

^This is interesting...maybe only to me, though...lol Benjamin Harrison (1890) supported an import tariff policy before economics was really understood. He admin raised the tariff rate on imports to 48%. So everything overseas cost more than what was produced in the US. If you are getting the same wages and pay more for products; you are a poorer person, right? (It's called the "real value".) Wages increased to meet the rising prices of products; US products cost more to make because of increased wages. US products increased in price. More devaluation of the dollar. Needless to say, this policy cost Harrison the election.

Anyone have a quote on how a recession will boot a politician out of office? lol There’s gotta be one from the Carter admin…
