surfnburn 5 Report post Posted November 29, 2007 I think of this.. The pioneers had to cross this long desert (it took days), then they had scale the Sierras to get to their oasis -- California.. Their horses and wagons sank in the salt flats and they had to lift their wagons on pulleys to get across the mountains.
