I'm terrible regarding my digital photos. For the most part, they're on my camera and my phone, but I don't always download them to my computer. We hardly ever make physical photos on paper anymore.

I said print on printer, because every once in a while I do that. Mostly I have them on my computer and backed up to an external drive. I plan to start backing them up to the cloud. I worry that if my house burns down, I won't have any pictures at all.

My brother and I have had many discussions about starting a business that makes it super easy for people to permanently back up photos on the internet. We really enjoy the photos (slides) my parents took all of our years growing up, from the 60s to the 80s. We have the best time pulling those out when the family all gets together. And we love looking at old pictures from our grandparents and great grandparents. We think so many families will not have this experience in the future because eventually people will lose all their digital photos over time.

All of the above. About a year ago I started scanning and saving tons of old family photos - some as old as 100 years. Then I put together an e-mail list of all of the family members I could and started a "picture of the day" thing. Everyone really enjoys it and we're learning a lot about the family.

Great idea, Lizzie! I want to scan all my slides and my parent's slides, so I have them on my computer/external hard drive. I should put them all on a cloud too. Have to figure out how to do that. It's going to take forever to scan all the slides we have though. I've been looking at slide scanners. It costs too much to have them converted professionally.

^ That's a great idea Tom. I said memory sticks cuz my cameras have SD cards and once they are filled, I put in a new card and save the filled ones. I used to print some pix on photo paper, but rarely do that these days. My pix are also on the PC hard drive that I consider an extra large memory stick. If the PC bites the dust, I still have the SD cards and can view or load them onto a new PC.

Lizzie and TomFest those are fantastic ideas, both of them.

I always download (or is it upload?) my pics from my camera to my computer. I only keep the ones that turned out well.

I send the ones I want to have a physical photo of, such as pix of Presley to frame, to Costco and I get them in the mail in about about 2 days.

The only one I don't do is that memory stick, have no idea what that even is, lol! I upload to this computer and they go into my iPhoto. I am still uploading photos from my trip to Kenya to get prints. I did do all my ones from The Giraffe Manor and have that in an album. At the rate I am going, though, I will be back in Kenya before these are all printed out and sent to me, lol!!

I save them all to my PC and only have them printed when there is a print I want to give my grandma (she's not online).

For those that save them to your PC make sure you make backups. I use a service that backs them up online called Carbonite, if you do a search there are several out there... Crashplan, Mozy are the others I can think of... Sorry for the commercial, it's the IT guy in me :D
