nurktwin 2,143 Report post Posted March 31, 2012 Do you think that printer ink is way overpriced?
Rick 156 Report post Posted March 31, 2012 Oh yeah. Even at Costco, it's way too expensive. I hate having to buy printer ink.

SingsInFrench 262 Report post Posted March 31, 2012 Yes, it it. I bought a Kodak printer so that I could buy cheaper ink. It's now about $10 for a black cartridge and $20 for a color ink cartridge. A little better, anyway.
agirl 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2012 Yes! Especially for the color printer.
Amber 70 Report post Posted March 31, 2012 Yes and it irks me that they are not interchangable between printers!

wild1forever 152 Report post Posted March 31, 2012 Definitely. My printer is pretty high-end (I needed it for work); the last cartridge I bought cost around $70.
TomFest 576 Report post Posted March 31, 2012 Fortunately, I have a company provided printer at home, and they also pay for the toner and paper. But yes, ink jet cartridges are crazy expensive. It's almost like you should throw the printer away and just buy a new printer because it comes with a cartridge.

Most companies don't do that anymore, unfortunately; because that's what I would be doing!
Marion 1,411 Report post Posted April 1, 2012 I wonder why it's so expensive.
weird monkey 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2012 Marion, I think it is because they sell printers cheap, because the ink cartridges are proprietary to each brand (and even model!), so the companies make money hand over fist on ink. Yeah, it's too expensive, when you consider the fact that knock off brands are thriving selling theirs at a substantial discount. I had to go back to brand name though, because after a couple replacements, the knock offs started screwing up the color disbursement, and I need pretty accurate reperoduction when I use a photo for referencing paintings. Some day I hope to afford an iPad so I can use that instead of printing photos when I paint! The laptop works okay, but it is cumbersome, I can't get it close enough to the easel, and I need it for other purposes.
